Week 11 Journal

I believe my beat would be in the beauty category. Specifically reviewing makeup and other beauty products. I chose this beat because I am a certified makeup artist, and am always looking for the best products. I would like to say that my opinion on these products would be trusted and useful.

People I would contact:
1.    Bri Colling – I would reach out to Bri because she has a large Instagram following that reaches multiple regions so I could grow from collaborating with her. I have talked with her before so I know this is a realistic option. I would interview her on upcoming fashion/beauty trends. 
2.    Sophie Abraham – I would reach out to Sophie to interview her on new hair style trends. She is known for knowing the latest braids, colors, etc. She is also my hairdresser and we have collaborated together before. 
3.    Kallyn Klein – I would reach out to Kallyn to interview her on her favorite skin treatments to get done at Rejuv. She works locally in Fargo so I could contact her in person. 
4.    Kim Thai – Kim has a huge following on Youtube but is known for working with very small indie brands. She may be more willing to work with a smaller reporter such as myself. I would interview her on her current favorite makeup products. 
5.    Rena Gillen – I would reach out to Rena because Benefit cosmetics is known for being more open to collaborating with smaller brands, and I am a pro artist in their program. I would ask her if I could review some of their products. 
6.    Melanie Peralta – I would reach out to Melanie because I am also a pro artist in their program so they may take me more seriously. I would also ask them if I could review some of their new products. 
7.    Maram Aoudie – I would reach out to Maram because she is a Social Media Manager meaning her specialty is less broad and fits what I would want to do. I would also ask to review their new products. 
8.    Monica – I would reach out to Monica to ask her expertise at the European Wax Center and do an experience review. 
9.    Lash Society Fargo – I would reach out to Lash Society to try out lash extensions for the first time so I can write a “first experience” review. They would be easier to contact because they are local 

10.  Harley Glosow – I would contact Harley about makeup, hair, and other beauty trends. I could ask her advice for how to style your hair. I personally know Harley so she would be an easy contact.

Journal Week 12

People involved: 1 st Girl: Black hair light blue eyes Green NDSU scrubs  Big smile  2 nd Girl: Blonde hair  NDSU gold sweatshirt  Where: Starbucks 52 nd Ave.  Large tables in the middle of the room The story: Two girls were sitting at a table inside of Starbucks off of 52 nd Avenue. They were studying and seemed to be biology majors considering the majority of their textbooks were science based. I overheard their conversation about their Christianity. It seemed as though the girl in scrubs was preaching her advice from her own experiences to the girl in the NDSU sweatshirt. The girl in the scrubs was consoling the other girl for maybe drifting away from her Christianity. They talked about how it was okay she lost herself for a moment, but now she needs to put more of an effort into going to her bible study group.
