My name is Olivia Strickler. I am a second-year student at NDSU. I grew up in a small town called Warren, Minnesota. I decided to come to NDSU as a very last-minute decision. My older brother was currently attending, and my family has always been huge Bison fans traveling down for all of the games. NDSU seemed like a comfortable decision with having my brother for guidance. I enjoyed the “mid-west nice” feel of the campus. It is close enough to home, but far away enough to feel independent. I am taking Comm 200 for my major: Strategic Communication. I believe this class will benefit myself by encouraging me to write more often and effectively. I believe this course will help me further understand media style writing. I believe this class will especially benefit me in my future career by giving me the knowledge of another style of writing. I am not exactly sure what I would like to do after college. I am looking into PR work possibly for a non-profit organization. I have also considering doing some grant work. I am hoping to learn a new writing style and to be able to use it efficiently in the future. I do not have experience writing news articles or any other media, so I am hoping I will develop those skills. I am interested in how the media has influence over the public so I am hoping to learn what it is like to be on the other side. One thing you could do to make this course helpful to me is clear expectations/explanations and reminders for assignments. One thing I think you should know about me is that I thrive off of clear explanations and extreme planning. I believe the proper way to eat a PB&J is to spread creamy peanut butter with a thin layer of jam on white bread. The peanut butter and jam should be on only one piece of bread. One unique trait I offer is I am very good at making tater-tots. I can also fill out an exceptional planner. There is nothing more disappointing than soggy tater-tots. My least favorite movie is Inception. It is way too complicated. I always put so much energy into paying attention and figuring it out, but I can never make it through the whole movie.

Olivia,
ReplyDeleteParagraphs are a thing, please use them liberally. If any explanation or assignment isn't clear enough for you, I'm happy to clarify. I can't promise reminders every week; we have to be responsible for our own work, but you can expect to have work due every Friday and Sunday. I'm looking forward to reading more of your work this semester.
